Skin Tag Diathermy

Diathermy is a medical procedure that uses high-frequency electrical currents to generate heat, and it can be employed for the removal of skin tags.

Preparation

The patient is positioned comfortably, and the area around the skin tag is cleaned to minimize the risk of infection.

Numbing (if necessary):

Depending on the size and location of the skin tag, our doctor may administer a local anaesthetic or apply a numbing cream to minimize discomfort during the procedure.

Application of High-Frequency Current

The diathermy machine is activated to deliver high-frequency electrical currents through the electrodes.

The generated heat serves dual purposes: it cuts through the tissues of the skin tag, and it coagulates blood vessels, reducing the risk of bleeding during the removal.

Removal of the Skin Tag:

As the high-frequency current is applied, our doctor uses the diathermy device to carefully cut through the tissues at the base of the skin tag.

The skin tag is then gently removed.

Coagulation and Sterilization

The heat generated by diathermy coagulates blood vessels, minimizing bleeding.

The area may be sterilized to reduce the risk of infection.

Post-Removal Care

After the skin tag is removed, the patient will receive instructions on post-removal care.
