Facing melasma with PicoWay® laser
- Let’s face it. Treating melasma is complicated. But, with the PicoWay picosecond laser, it doesn’t have to be.
- With its ultra-short pulse durations and photoacoustic technology, the PicoWay laser offers a new way to face melasma.
- Using a low-thermal method to break down excess skin pigment, the PicoWay laser is an ideal approach for darker skin types who often experience this challenging skin condition.
- In addition to its existing clearances for treating benign pigmented lesions, acne scars, wrinkles, and tattoo removal, the PicoWay laser is now also FDA-indicated to treat Melasma, Lentigines, Nevus of Ota, and Café au Lait Macules.
New PicoWay system tools target pigment
- The PicoWay system delivers high energy, ultra-short picosecond pulses utilising a photomechanical effect to selectively destroy melanocytes in the targeted tissue, with reduced risk of unwanted thermal heating to surrounding tissue — even in darker skin.
- Adding to PicoWay system’s toolbox, for removing boldly and treating lightly, are the new PicoWay Resolve Fusion 532 nm handpiece and the PicoWay 730 nm handpiece, FDA-cleared for the treatment of benign pigmented lesions in Fitzpatrick Skin Types I-IV.
- The 730 nm handpiece is also FDA-cleared for the removal of green and blue tattoo colours for Fitzpatrick skin types II‐IV.
- In a clinical study of 84 adults, with the majority having darker Asian or Mediterranean/Middle Eastern skin, pigmentation on the face and body was treated with the new PicoWay Resolve Fusion 532 nm and PicoWay 730 nm handpieces.
- A series of 3-4 full-face treatments with the Resolve Fusion 532 nm handpiece and 1-4 focal treatments with the PicoWay 730 nm handpiece to the face and body resulted in >50% clearance of epidermal and dermal pigmented lesions for 77% of physician-blinded evaluations.
Subjects reported high satisfaction with treatment outcome.

- Post inflammatory hyperpigmentation (PIH) rate was low in this population of darker-skinned subjects relative to data published from previous generation nanosecond lasers.
- The Resolve Fusion 532 nm and 730 nm handpieces are an ideal complement to your existing PicoWay system handpieces or an excellent addition for your customized PicoWay system purchase.
